REVEALED: The cheapest beach breaks in Europe - with £33 flights and £2 pints

The cheapest beach getaways in Europe have been revealed - and for savvy travellers looking to stretch their money, the new list offers everything from £33 return flights to £2 pints in picture-postcard locations.

easyJet has unveiled 20 beach destinations Brits can escape to from mid-September to late October; a period known as the 'shoulder season,' which has grown in popularity thanks to milder temperatures and less crowds.

Each destination was ranked based on several key cost factors, including beer, ice cream, family meals, and local accommodation - all with direct flights from UK airports.

All locations in the Cheap Beach Index offer sunny weather, blue skies, quiet beaches and plenty of availability at the best restaurants throughout the season.

Topping the list as the most affordable holiday spot is Nessebar, a lesser-known seaside gem in Bulgaria that's packed with white-sand beaches, a UNESCO-listed old town, and affordable food and drink.

Located on a small peninsula on the coast of the Black Sea, Nessebar offers visitors a unique mix of culture, history and classic beach vibes - earning it the nickname 'Pearl of the Black Sea.'

The town, known for its cobbled streets, seafood restaurants and picturesque shoreline, stood out in the rankings thanks to its £2 beers, low-cost hotels, generous flight deals, wallet-friendly prices on everyday essentials.

Following closely behind in second place is Budva Riviera in Montenegro, an area stretching 35 kilometres along the Adriatic coast.

The popular holiday destination is home to sandy coves and clear waters, with enough natural surroundings, activities, and restaurants and bars to suit explorers, families and partygoers - and flight costs are especially competitive in early autumn.

Securing the third spot is Costa de Almería in Spain, which offers golden beaches, rugged desert landscapes and a quieter alternative to nearby coastal hotspots like Marbella and Alicante.

Located to the south-east of the coastal region is its famous Tabernas Desert - the only desert within Europe.

Also featured in the top ten are Croatian towns Zadar and Nin, which both offer stunning shorelines, ancient ruins, and excellent value on food, drink and accommodation.

Spain's Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol also made the list thanks to consistently cheap package deals and extensive flight connections from the UK.

Halkidiki, in Greece, also offers turquoise waters, sandy beaches and family-friendly resorts that don't break the bank.

In Italy, both Olbia, in Sardinia, and Puglia provide travellers with coastal experiences full of culinary delights, but without the premium price tag normally found with Italian beach getaways.

Kevin Doyle, UK Country Manager for easyJet, said: 'With thousands of flights across hundreds of routes from the UK throughout September mean great value beach breaks are still available across Europe.

'Our Cheap Beach Index offers a brilliant variety of value choices for passengers looking for one last dose of summer sun and fun.'

It comes as Sara Rodriguez, a travel expert and blogger behind Madrid Travelling, has revealed four European hotspots she believes travellers should avoid due to severe overcrowding.

She cites long queues, inflated prices, and a loss of authentic charm as key issues - and among them is a once-hidden gem that she describes as 'more hectic than idyllic.'

Europe is undeniably rich in history, culture, and natural beauty, but without restrictions on visitor numbers, millions of tourists descend on cities every summer, which leads to congestion and diminished tourist experiences at iconic spots.
