Eclipses and rare celestial events to light up September sky

JEDDAH - Skywatchers around the world can look forward to a series of celestial events this September, including a total lunar eclipse and rare planetary alignments, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

According to Jeddah Astronomy Society Director Majed Abu Zahra, the highlights include a total lunar eclipse on September 7, visible in Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.

A partial solar eclipse will occur on Sept 21, although it will not be visible in the Arab world.

Rare phenomena will also be on display, with the shadow of Saturn's moon Titan crossing the planet's disk on September 4 and 20.

For early risers, Venus and Jupiter will shine on the eastern horizon, while on September 19 the crescent moon will form a striking triangle with Venus and Regulus. - BERNAMA-SPA
