Fans Stunned: 'Walking With Dinosaurs' Revamp Sparks Outrage Among Devoted Viewers

A reboot of iconic BBC series Walking With Dinosaurs returned to screens tonight, 26 years after its very first episode aired.

The first of six hotly-anticipated brand new episodes tracked the adventure of the three-month-old Triceratops named Clover as she tried to stay alive in a tough setting, with a hungry T-Rex chasing her down.

Throughout her journey, the orphaned dinosaur encounters a youthful Edmontosaurus companion who becomes a fast friend... until calamity intervenes.

Stepping in for original narrator Sir Kenneth Branagh , The remade version of "Walking With Dinosaurs" is voiced by The Crown star Bertie Carvel, who is along with Clover for every step of her perilous jaunt.

However, Bertie is not the sole human featured in the show’s lineup – it has since been refreshed to incorporate scenes set in contemporary times. Here, experts analyze fossilized dinosaur droppings and carefully examine the actual remains of Clover.

This format change has proved controversial among purists, who have hit back, saying that the show has now been ‘ruined.’

As the premiere of X took place, viewers expressed their opinions about the brand new series "Walking With Dinosaurs."

'The frequent shifts between past and future ruin it for me. The original "Walking with Dinosaurs" never did this, which was one of the reasons behind its success,' wrote @AmyTeamLH, concluding: 'We want dinosaurs, not humans.'

@miss_laura_82 concurred, stating: “I prefer the classic version with dinosaurs instead of all these scenes set in contemporary excavations. Simply create a Jurassic task force dedicated to showcasing the dinosaurs.”

'Are they planning to interrupt the dinosaur experts with dinosaur reenactments? If they're going to do this throughout the entire season, then I'm done!" stated @RealEnli.

'Frankly, what have they done to "Walking with Dinosaurs"? Why are there humans? Why are we watching people use drones? I've hardly seen any dinosaurs, and this is just episode one,' lamented @Darklordofall23.

Upcoming episodes will journey to prehistoric Morocco, home to a massive Spinosaurus – the biggest dinosaur to ever walk the planet – as it prowls through the nearby rivers.

Moreover, in contemporary times, an excavation crew uncovers several findings regarding a group of Albertosaurus, whereas, back in ancient days, a young female hunter strives to establish her worth within her community.

At the same time, in Portugal, an elderly Lusotitan tries to ensure his lineage by seeking companionship, confronting a younger competitor when he finds his partner.

Regarding the new series, the BBC commissioner stated: "A brand-new generation of viewers is ready to become enamored with 'Walking With Dinosaurs.'"

Originally premiering in 1999, the show’s initial version was viewed by 15 million spectators in the UK – making it one of the most-watched science programmes on British TV in the 20th century.

Using the cutting-edge technology of its time, this production came with a staggering price tag of £6.1 million – averaging out to about £37,654 per minute. This made it the most costly documentary series ever created at that point.
